Witcher 3 to arrive on May 19, CD Projekt Red confirms

TOKYO: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, is finally on its way. After being delayed twice (once from late 2014 to February 2015, and once from February 2015 to 19th of May 2015), fans of the series as well as RPG fans anticipating the conclusion to the Witcher saga have been skeptical in taking any release date for granted, and rightfully so. This time however, there will be no more delays, says CD Projekt Red, via its Twitter page.

Set in stone this time? It certainly seems so. Going gold means a game is its completed form, and regardless of future changes or patches to the game, will now remain unchanged until its release. Of course, we already know that the developers are not standing idly by (although, after a lengthy development cycle, they certainly seem to have earned some R&R), and instead, are working on the game’s two future expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, both of which will bring significant amounts of content, with new quests and areas to explore.

The second delay to The Witcher 3 was justified purely with quality assurance reasons by the Polish developer, something that seemed to make the wait somewhat bearable. It’s not often we see developers postponing their games several months just to ensure a high level of polish and bug-fixing. Unlike many game developers that are being pressured by publishers, CD Projekt Red has the possibility to set its own pace, and this is an aspect we’ve seen in previous games of the developer. Like them or not, both the Witcher and Witcher 2 have been extremely polished at launch, and we’re hoping to see more of the same with The Wild Hunt.

With the 19th of May release date closing in, make sure your PC can handle the gorgeousness The Witcher 3 promises. The game’s system requirements are definitely on the high side, but based on what we’ve seen, they are completely justified (you can view them below). Of course, the game is also being launched for the Xbox One and PS4, so if either of those are your platform of choice, you’re good to go. Additionally, you can take a look at the latest gameplay trailer released by the developers. It might just make waiting for the game that much harder though.
