LONDON: Apple has announced that its next Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will take place June 8-12 at its usual home of Moscone West in San Francisco.

Apple’s community of developers will come together to get an exclusive preview of the future of iOS and OS X, which will only be revealed to the public in the fall of 2015. More than 100 technical sessions and practical workshops will be dedicated to the development, deployment and integration of the latest iOS and OS X technologies. The event will close with the Apple Design Awards, which recognize apps that demonstrate technical excellence, innovation and outstanding design.

Apple is expected to showcase the upcoming iOS 9, which is set to offer new apps and, most notably, highly anticipated changes with regards to music: along with a newly re-designed dedicated app, the company is widely rumored to be creating an integrated music streaming service, in collaboration with Beats, to take on Spotify. On the other hand, there is no new information as of yet regarding the successor to Mac OS X Yosemite.

The highlight of last year’s conference was the ever-growing convergence of Mac OS X and iOS, especially the ability to make phone calls from your Mac and to transfer documents more easily between any Apple products, taking interoperability between Apple smartphones, tablets and computers to an unprecedented level. Apple also introduced an updated version of its remote storage service, now called iCloud Drive, allowing the company to better compete with similar services like Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive and even Dropbox.
