WASHINGTON: Apple Inc. devices are known to support only its own accessories and hence, it poses problems for most users. But you don’t need to worry a bit if you are buying a new Apple’s 12 inch MacBook. For the laptop’s new USB Type-C port, you are now given more options other than Apple’s expensive cables.usb-type-c-cables-adapters

The users of MacBook can now purchase cheaper USB Type-C cables via third parties. The third party USB Type-C chargers will also be able to work with the new MacBook. This is a great change in the company policy by allowing the user to employ third party chargers instead of expensive MagSafe chargers.

The new 2015 Apple MacBook possesses only one USB Type-C port and hence you would need to purchase a substantial number of cables in order to charge the laptop. The Support section of Apple website was updated this week and it mentioned, “Your MacBook will charge from USB-C power adapters not manufactured by Apple if they adhere to the USB Power Delivery specification.”

It is important to note that the new MacBook was the first laptop in the range to possess a USB Type-C port. In the older MacBooks, Apple had been supportive of the third party USB cables and the new USB Type C Port comes good with the industry standard specifications as defined by the USB Implementers Forum.

A substantial number of USB Type C peripherals are on the way, including the likes of a storage drive from Lacie and flash drives from Emtec and SanDisk. Same connector is used by the Standard USB Type C cables on both ends. This was quite different in the older USB cables.

Apple is currently selling a US$19 USB Type-C to USB adapter, a $29 two-meter charging cable, a $49 Type-C power adapter, and a $79 USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter with HDMI, USB 3.0 and USB Type-C ports.
