KARACHI: Staff members at the Regional Tax Office, particularly those belonging to the Sale Tax Department, are dissatisfied with the treatment meted out to them by the high officials of the Income Tax Department.

Talking to Customs Today, a few staffers were highly critical over the sidelining of their senior officers as compared to the officers of the Income Tax Department. They termed this attitude as a step-motherly treatment toward the sales tax staff.

They said that due to this attitude, the seniority of a number of officers from Sales Tax Department had been affected badly, whereas at the same time, the junior officers of the Income Tax Department had now become seniors.

They said that things went wrong since the Sales Tax Department, which came under the Customs Department, was merged with the Income Tax Department in the year 2009.

They were of the view that if the Sales Tax Department was once again given under the Customs Department head, its performance regarding revenue collection would certainly increase.
