Customs Court extends judicial remand of three alleged smugglers by 14 days

LAHORE: The Special Customs Court of Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has extended the judicial remand of three alleged smugglers on the request of the investigation officers of Pakistan Customs.

As per the details, during the hearing of the case, the investigation officers requested the court to extend the judicial remand of the accused, as they were not required for a physical remand.

The officers said that they were not expecting any further recovery from the accused, but for further proceedings, they needed some time. On this, the court extended the judicial remand of the accused by 14 days.

The accused are Ghullam Hussain, Intizar Hussain and Muhammad Rafaqat. The investigation officers told the court that during a raid, 5,400kg Indian-origin smuggled clothes and 10,439kg Bazin cloth were seized from a truck bearing registration number MDKA 338 during an action of the Customs Intelligence.

The import value of the fabric was Rs 6.8 million, while its market value is estimated to be more than Rs 10 million.
