Nokia to bounce back to smartphone manufacturing industry very soon

LONDON: The Microsoft-Nokia acquisition can be seen as Nokia’s failure to adapt to the changing game of smartphones but it seems the company learned its lesson and that too the hard way and now it is trying to bounce back to the smartphone manufacturing industry very soon. According to a report from re/code, the Finnish company is planning to return to its consumer mobile production from as early as next year. And the company won’t stop there; it is also working on unconventional projects like virtual reality.

The Nokia N1 and the Z launcher were one of the first products under the brand name Nokia after the acquisition but the company is able to pull this off only by licensing the intellectual property to other manufacturers but selling it under the ‘Nokia’ banner. This will keep the company away from the hassles of manufacturing and marketing but that also means it will not have any control on the device’s success/failure. The Finnish company will have to wait for the end of the Microsoft-Nokia contract before it makes any major announcement.

The report also claims that the company is hiring aggressively and is working hard to make a sizeable comeback in the smartphone industry. With new players like Xiaomi and OnePlus targeting the budget segment and the prevailing dominance of Samsung and Apple in the flagship segment will make it a tough affair for Nokia.
