The sources further disclosed this scribe that the Additional Collector Irfan Javed would likely to sum-up his findings regarding the case into the hearing and will send his report to the authorities concerned of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) by the end of this month i.e. April.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) on a complaint in connection with the violation of SRO144 (I) has ordered the Customs authorities to investigate the matter and adjudge the case as per findings.

It may be mentioned here that the Customs authorities have already issued show-cause notices to 37 clearing agents and 12 shipping agents, who were involved in clearing the vehicles under Vehicle Amnesty Scheme during the period of 2012-13.

In the same time, the Customs authorities have decided to conduct an investigation from the officials, who were deployed in the car group on that time.

Later, the FBR nominated Additional Collector Irfan Javed to investigate the entire case and submit his findings before the Board.

It is pertinent to mention here that shortfall in surcharge amount was being observed on the importer of around 400 vehicles under amnesty scheme and it was also found that the vehicles were imported across the age-limit.
