According to folks at Android Police, who took a look the complete developer change-log of the update, Android 5.1.1 brings tweaks of select core OS functions, security fixes, and improvements to media decoding and handling. Among the device-specific fixes, the camera time-out on Nexus 5 has been fixed and the updated Android version can better handle the recent Chromecast feature of supporting TV remote controls using HDMI-CEC.

Google is yet to start the OTA roll-out of Android 5.1.1, but it has published the factory image based on the new Android version for at least one Nexus device the Asus-made Nexus Player.
