Hyderabad: Customs Preventive to launch operation against Iranian petrol, diesel smugglers

KARACHI: The Model Customs Collectorate-MCC Preventive has sought assistance from MCC-Hyderabad in launching joint operation against smugglers of Iranian petrol and diesel.

The sources informed Customs Today that, through a letter, the MCC-Preventive has sought the assistance of MCC-Hyderabad in busting smugglers’ gangs of Iranian petrol and diesel in the country.

It is pertinent to mention here that the MCC-Hyderabad performance regarding busting the smugglers’ gangs has been remarkable for last three to four months while the Collectorate has also initiated a crackdown against imported vehicles, which have been imported in the jurisdiction of Enforcement-South on fake documents without pay legitimate duty/taxes.

The sources informed Customs Today that the chief collector enforcement-South Muhammad Nazim Saleem has quite satisfied with the current performance of MCC-Hyderabad and keen to work jointly with the authorities concerned of MCC-Preventive in order to uproot the smuggling dens from South region.

The sources further informed this scribe that a joint meeting of the authorities concerned of MCC-Preventive and MCC-Hyderabad would be held in upcoming days in which a strategy would be devised in order to initiate crackdown against smugglers of Iranian diesel and petrol.

The sources further said that the officials of Sukkur Region would also be inducted in the said operation, while the decision in this regard would be taken in the meeting convened by the chief Collector Enforcement-South.
