SYDNEY: The Australian stocks looks set to open higher, following gains on Wall Street overnight.
At 6.54am (AEST), the June share price index futures contract was up 27 points at 5,858.
In the US, the Nasdaq index smashed its 15-year-old record Thursday, breaking through the old mark set at the peak of the dot-com boom in 2000.
Locally, in equities new trans-Tasman newspaper publisher and radio group APN News & Media holds its annual general meeting, and sleep disorder specialist ResMed releases its third quarter earnings.
In Australia, the market on Thursday closed higher as gains among the big miners offset losses in the financial sector.
The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index gained 7.3 points, or 0.13 per cent, at 5,844.8.
The broader All Ordinaries index was up 7.5 points, or 0.13 per cent, at 5,820.3.
