Govt. to provide relief to farmers in next budget: Bosan

LAHORE: Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan has said that government is planning to provide maximum relief to farmers in the next budget.

The minister said that more than 65 percent population and 45 percent labour in Pakistan was attached with agriculture sector which shares 22 percent to GDP but over production of rice and other issues in international market have worsened the situation in the country.

He said that government was making all out efforts for low cost production and to make this sector suitable for small farmers.

Bosan said that agriculture has become a provincial subject after the 18th Amendment and provincial governments should provide maximum relief to the farmers by making agriculture friendly policies.

He added that government was working on every possible option to increase the productivity of different crops considering the agriculture a top priority.
