LONDON: Victorian-era sea forts turned into unique luxury accommodation. The first fort hotel, Spitbank Fort, was opened in 2012, and the second hotel opens this weekend.

Three times the size of Spitbank Fort, No Man’s Fort can accommodate 44 guests in 22 rooms and suites, and also boasts a variety of event and entertaining spaces.

Accessible by boat or helicopter No Man’s Fort has two helipads on the roof all of the rooms have spectacular sea views.

Rooms at the fort start at NZ$895 and go to NZ$1393 for the Superior and Lighthouse Penthouse suites.

The penthouse isn’t called the Lighthouse for nothing: The four-storey lighthouse suite offers panoramic views of the Solent Strait and a glass floor.

As well as sleeping quarters, No Man’s Fort will also be offering wine and rum tasting, a sauna, hot tub, games room, adventure sports, treasure hunting, and a number of bars and restaurants.

The third fort, Horse Sand Fort, is the same size as No Man’s Fort and will soon be renovated to turn it into another hotel.

In the meantime, Solent Forts is conducting tours of Horse Sand Fort while it’s in an untouched, original condition.
