US$46 billion Chinese investment to improve national economy: TDAP

MULTAN: Director General Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), Punjab, Shahzad Hussain Rana has said that 46 billion dollar Chinese investment will usher in a new era of prosperity in the country.

Addressing a gathering of industrialists and business persons at Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), he said that the credit for attracting such a huge investment goes to the incumbent government and all out efforts were being made to overpower energy crisis and the menace of terrorism.

He said that initiatives being taken by the government to improve national economy have started yielding positive results.

He said that the government was fully aware of the importance of South Punjab and added that newly developed international airport at Multan would be helpful in increasing value added exports of processed products of mango, cotton, Halal meat besides handicrafts.

He said that investors and business tycoons from South Punjab should play effective role in aid of government’s efforts to bring economic development to this area and contribute to increase export volume to attract much needed foreign exchange earnings.

He said that export of value added agriculture products would also increase income of farmers.

He said that no mega power projects were undertaken during the dictatorship regime that worsened the situation in power sector in the country.

He said the government was providing 50 per cent subsidy to encourage women entrepreneurs for awareness seminars and participate in industrial/trade exhibition.        He said tax refund cases were being processed and record was being maintained with TDAP adding that process of payments in tax refund cases was in progress.

TDAP Multan director Alamgir Khan, former MCCI president Khawaja Usman, Khawaja Younis, Syed Iftikhar Shah and others also spoke on the occasion and gave recommendations for promotion of business and industry in South Punjab.
