Hong Kong stocks end 0.15% lower, Hang Seng drops 42.41pts

HONG KONG: Hong Kong stocks ended 0.15 per cent lower Wednesday, in line with a broad regional sell-off following weak US data, while investors await the end of a closely watched Federal Reserve meeting later in the day.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index closed down 42.41 points at 28,400.34. Turnover was HK$163.05 billion (S$27.8 billion).

But in mainland China the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index ended marginally higher, adding 0.40 points to 4,476.62 on turnover of 752.4 billion yuan (S$162.5 billion).

The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, jumped 2.10 per cent, or 46.42 points, to 2,254.98 on turnover of 526.7 billion yuan.
