LONDON: U.K. stocks fluctuated as the FTSE 100 Index heads for a monthly gain.
The benchmark added 0.1 percent to 6,951.35 at 10:16 a.m. in London, after slumping as much as 0.6 percent and climbing as much as 0.3 percent. The gauge has added 2.7 percent this month. The FTSE All-Share Index was little changed, while Ireland’s ISEQ Index fell 0.4 percent.
Royal Dutch Shell Plc climbed 1.3 percent after posting first-quarter profit that beat analysts’ projections. Royal Mail Plc led gains, jumping 4 percent, after peers’ talks to fund a rival postal delivery service ended.
IAG SA lost 2.9 percent after saying the rate of profit improvement will slow and fuel prices will rise in the second quarter. Royal Bank of Scotland Group Plc dropped 1.7 percent after reporting a larger-than-expected quarterly loss as the bank set aside more money for currency-manipulation probes.
Arria Nlg Plc tumbled 75 percent after saying the loss of a contract with Shell will cause full-year revenue to be significantly below estimates. Arria develops software that communicates data in human-like language.
