Customs Appraisement-West books one for evading duties of Rs 1m on PVC panaflex sheet

KARACHI: The Appraising Intelligence Branch (AIB) of Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Appraisement-West has booked the American Graphics in its alleged involvement in evading the duty/taxes amounting to Rs 1 million in import of PVC panaflex sheets.

According to details, the authorities concerned of AIB/R&D have seized two consignments of PVC panaflex sheets related to the importer American Graphics.

During examining the consignments, the Customs authorities found that the imported consignments were exceeded in weight.

The sources informed Customs Today that one of the consignment having GD No 160301-HC-KAPW-15-4-2015 containing PVC panaflex sheets were exceeding its weight by 1800 kilograms and the importer was tried to evade duty/taxes amounting to Rs 0.1 million i.e. (Rs 124,885).

Subsequently, the AIB authorities sent a short revenue recovery demand notice to the importer and released the consignment after recovering the differential amount in share of duty/taxes.

In the second case, the AIB authorities concerned found that the importer filed another GD 157885-HC-KAPW-11-04-2015 containing the same item PVC panaflex sheets having excess weight of 3700 kilogram and tried to evaded duty/taxes amounting to Rs 1 million.

The AIB authorities concerned have formed a contravention report against the importer American Graphics and sent it to the adjudicating authorities for legal proceedings.
