ISLAMABAD: Federal board of Revenue (FBR) Facilitation and Training Education (FATE) Member Nadeem Dar said that tax facilitation cards likely not to be issued to taxpayers by the start of new fiscal year as National Identity Numbers (NIC) could be used as National Tax Number (NTN) according to new law.

Member Nadeem Dar said that department was facing various impediments on all fronts including enforcements due to shortage of workforces.

He added that FBR was responsible for revenue collection and in this regard it would not offer any out of law opportunities to taxpayers to collect taxes as all over the world no exemption were granted against paid taxes to taxpayers because under the law of country everyone who falls in the category of taxpayers is responsible to pay duty/taxes on income, sales, import, etc.

He said that taxes were essential to run the state business and development projects in the country.

Member FATE also informed that awareness campaigns to educate new generation about the importance of tax were being launched on third week of May in educational institutions and it will be begun from NUST University.

He said that modern and creative ideas will be introduced to bring the people into tax net instead of using ineffective and old-fashioned strategies and suggestions will be demanded from people to bring transparency and efficiency in department.

He added that FBR has a complaint cell where every citizen could register complaints as FBR is accountable to redress their complaints.

He further said that all suggestions sent by Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) to FBR were implemented.
