Provisional anti-dumping duty slapped on tiles from China

ISLAMABAD: The National Tariff Commission (NTC) has imposed provisional anti-dumping duty on import of tiles from China, ranging from 14.27 to 40.40 percent of the C&F price of the imported item with effect from April 5, 2014.

The tiles including ceramic, porcelain, vitrified, granite wall and floor tiles in glazed/unglazed, polished/ unpolished finish (tiles) from China will come under the purview of the anti-dumping duty.

In this connection, the Collectors of Customs have started charging provisional anti-dumping duty on import of tiles from China. The FBR has referred to the decision of the National Tariff Commission (Commission) in terms of Part-II and Part-XI of the Anti-Dumping Duties Ordinance, 2000. The NTC has imposed provisional anti-dumping duty on dumped import of tiles, which includes ceramic, porcelain, vitrified, granite wall and floor tiles in glazed/ unglazed, polished/ unpolished finish (Tiles), originating in and /or exported from China for a period of four months with effect from April 5, 2014. Tiles are classified under PCT heading Nos 6907.1000, 6907.9000, 6908.1000, 6908.9010 and 6908.9090. Tiles imported from other countries are not subject to the provisional anti-dumping duty.

According to the NTC, exporters including Huida Sanitary Ware Co Ltd, Foshan Eagle Brand Ceramic Trade Co Ltd, Foshan Junjing Industrial Co Ltd, Foshan Mainland Import and Export Co Ltd and others companies are not cooperating with the Commission. The FBR will collect provisional antidumping duty on tiles importable from China.
