SEOUL: Samsung Galaxy S5, S4 and S3 to get Android 5.0 Lollipop update in US soon. Samsung Galaxy S5 users under Verizon and T-Mobile already received the latest firmware upgrade last month. AT&T and Sprint have not yet rolled it out but they confirmed that they will deliver the update soon.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 in Poland, India and Russia reportedly received the latest Android OS, and it is believed that Lollipop is working its way in other parts of Europe and Asia as well.  Samsung Galaxy S4 users in the United States will surely receive it, too, since T-Mobile included the handset in its line of devices to receive the OS. The Samsung handset is currently under testing.

Meanwhile, there is no word yet about the Samsung Galaxy S3. There is no concrete indication that it will be getting the firmware upgrade since the model is three years old. There is an unspoken rule that older smartphones are not eligible for such changes.

The Galaxy Note 3, 4, and Edge will also receive the latest Lollipop version. The Galaxy Note 3 will get the update first than the current Note 4 and Note Edge. Similar to the status of the Galaxy S3, the Galaxy Note 2 may or may not receive the update. The rollout of the latest operating system to the phablet is still undetermined.

The Android 5.0 Lollipop OS update delivers a wide array of changes including: Material Design UI, TouchWiz improvements, new battery power saver software, improved notifications, lock screen notifications control, Priority Mode, Intelligent notifications ranking, Android Smart lock, Multiple Users support, Guest User, Screen Pinning, and New toggles for the Quick Settings menu.
