KARACHI: The Directorate of Reforms and Automation Director Abdul Majid Yousufani reached China on a two-month visit to hold meeting with Chinese Customs authorities.
Sources informed Customs Today that the Director-Reforms and Automation with the consent of FBR officials went China to hold meetings with Chinese customs authorities to discuss the matter pertaining to Web Based One Customs (WeBoc), an automated system, up-gradation.
They further informed that the FBR has planned to link the Pakistan Customs software,Weboc with the Chinese Customs clearance system in order to expedite the clearance process and to check the authenticity of the imported consignments.
“The Director R&A, Majid Yousufani will also brief the Chinese Customs officials about the use of Green, Yellow and Red channels for clearance through WeBOC”, sources added.
“During the visit, the Director R&A would also stress the Chinese counterparts to make the entire clearance system automatic in order to stop revenue leakages and defrauding into clearance of imported consignments”, sources further added.
They further said that the visit of Director R&A Abdul Majid Yousufani was much significant as the FBR seeks fully automated operating system for clearance, adding that China could play an important role in this regard, as most of the consignments were being imported from China.
To a query, sources said that a mutual operating system would certainly improve the process of clearance and also eliminate the glitches of the system.
It is pertinent to mention here that a team of Chinese Customs officers and officials has also paid a visit to Karachi last month, in which they attended training sessions regarding the working on WeBOC, automated system.
The training sessions were held at the Directorate General of Training and Research (DGTR) where the officers of Pakistan Customs were also present.
