HELSINKI: According to the foreign trade statistics provided by Finnish Customs, The value of Finnish exports declined by three per cent in February. In a release, the customs said the value of exports was almost €4.2 billion.
Export prices declined by 0.9 per cent, while export volume decreased by 2.2 per cent. In January-February, exports have decreased by seven per cent compared to the previous year. On the other hand, the value of imports decreased by two per cent in February and was slightly under €4.4 billion. The value of imports was affected by the decrease in import prices by 6.8 per cent. Import volume rose by 7.8 per cent.

Exports to Russia fell by 32 per cent in February and in January-February export value to Russia was 38 per cent lower than a year ago. The decline in the value of exports of petroleum products pushed down the total exports. Also, the export of other chemical industry products remained weak. The contribution of motor vehicles, certain industrial machinery and equipment, steel and forest industry products increased in the total exports. The value of imports of crude oil rose by two per cent from the previous year due to an increase in import volume. At the same time import prices fell drastically, said the customs.
