SEOUL: South Korean stocks finished 0.24 percent higher Monday as investor sentiment was boosted by robust first-quarter corporate earnings, analysts said. The South Korean won lost ground against the U.S. dollar.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) gained 5.09 points to close at 2,132.23. Trading volume was moderate at 351.8 million shares worth 4.66 trillion won (US$4.32 billion), with losers outpacing gainers 487 to 334.
