OSLO: Norwegian gas exports to Europe fell from last Friday due to lower deliveries to Britain, while production capacity was reduced due to longer than planned maintenance.

Pipeline flows were running at a rate of 276 million cubic metres (mcm) per day by 0830 GMT, down 18 mcm from volumes delivered on Friday, data from the gas system operator showed.

Flows to Britain dropped by 17 mcm/day as demand fell due to a public holiday, while supplies to Belgium rose by 5 mcm/day. A planned maintenance at an offshore gas field was extended for one day until Tuesday, reducing Norway’s production capacity by 45 mcm/day on Monday. Norway has a total gas production capacity of about 350 mcm/day, but it is normally lower during summer months when maintenance takes place.

The following table shows Norwegian gas pipeline flows measured in mcm/day and compared with the previous session’s delivered volumes: Destination Real time Pvs business Change day (mcm) Britain 65 82 -17 Germany & Netherlands 137 143 -6 France 39 39 0 Belgium 35 30 5 Total 276 294 -18 NOTE: Real-time gas export figures are based on gas fed into the system at a certain time and calculated as a daily average. Levels can vary throughout the day as producers adjust the amount of gas they export, according to changing nominations, or orders, from customers. Volumes for the previous business day show delivered gas.
