KARACHI: The Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I will hear the Right way Trading Company case regarding the use of fake letter of Alternate Energy Development Board (AEDB) for importing six consignments of solar panels today (May 7).
According to details, the Appraising Intelligence Branch (AIB) of Model Customs Collectorate Appraisement-West as a detecting agency made a contravention report against the importer Right way Trading Company in its alleged involvement in importing six consignments of solar panels on fake AEDB letter by evading duty/taxes amounting to Rs4million approximately and forwarded it to the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I.

It is pertinent to mention here that a two-member team of AIB comprising Examining Officer Anwar Zaib and Appraiser Shair Khan also visited Islamabad, few days ago to check the veracity of the AEDB letter issued by the authorities concerned of Ministry of Power and Energy to the importers’ representative.
During the investigation, it was found that the importer with the connivance of AEDB authorities concerned tried to import solar panels consignments.
Later, the AIB prepared a complete investigation report into the case and presented it before the Collector MCC Appraisement-West, Muhammad Saleem and Additional Collector Nayyar Shafiq.
Subsequently, the authorities concerned of the collectorate decided that the contravention report to be made against the importer Right way Trading Company on its alleged involvement in importing solar panel consignments on fake AEDB letter.
Sources informed Customs Today that the Customs Adjudication-I Collector Farid Iqbal Qureshi would conduct hearing into the case on May 7 (today).
