ISLAMABAD: Federal Commerce Minister Khurram Dastgir has said that Iran and Pakistan have many capacities which can be used for broadening of ties.

He said that Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif during his upcoming visit to Iran will discuss a wide range of issues with senior Iranian officials.

“In fact, establishing and expanding regional trade is part of Pakistan’s ruling party manifesto,” the minister said.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s upcoming visit to Iran will help further promote bilateral ties between Tehran and Islamabad and play a crucially important role in consolidating and reinvigorating ties between the two Muslim neighbouring states, the minister noted.

Sharif’s visit will take place before May 15. During a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on the sidelines of a ministerial meeting of the Developing Eight (D8) group in Islamabad on December 19, 2013, Sharif said Pakistan places strong emphasis on friendly relations with all neighbouring countries, including Iran, on the basis of mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity.
