In the interim report, the investigation officer of AIB-MCC Appraisement (West), stated that the suspect importer M/s Pure Enterprises was attempted to clear banned pharmaceutical including aspirin and Paracetamol in the garb of SDO555, SDO333 and SDO222 by declaring untrue classification.

The sources further informed this scribe that the Investigation Officer (IO) has also requested the honorable Customs Court to cancel the protective bail of accused Muhammad Ali Chandna, so that the Customs authorities can investigate the case further from him.

“The Investigation Officer further pleaded before the honorable Customs Court to produce the accused Muhammad Ali Chandna into the next hearing, as the accused has not yet presented before the court in any of the hearing after his bail”, sources added.

Reacting upon the plea, the judge of Customs Court ordered the lawyer of Muhammad Ali Chandna to ensure the presence of him into the next hearing and later adjourned the hearing till 8 June-2015.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Research and Development (R&D) Section of MCC-Appraisement (East) is also working on the same case, as around 80 plus consignments have been cleared from the same Collectorate during the last two years while three to four consignments of banned pharmaceutical have been cleared from MCC-Appraisement (West).

It may be mentioned here that the R&D Section of MCC-Appraisement (East) was also succeeded to arrest Muhammad Ali Chandna, who supposed to be a prime suspect in entire scam. However; the accused Muhammad Ali Chandna later got protective bail from Customs Court against the security deposit of Rs5million.
