BEIJING: Hengqin Customs House(affiliated to Gongbei Customs District) intercepted 10,983 shopping bags and handbags that were suspected of infringing upon the exclusive trade mark right of “POLO RALPH LAUREN” ( “POLO RALPH LAUREN” is a recorded trade mark in the General Administration of Customs of China) owned by Ralph Lauren Corporation. This is the biggest infringement case in goods control that Hengqin Customs House has seized by far this year.

A trading company in Huai’an (a city in Jiangsu Province) entrusted a Customs broker in Zhuhai to declare to Hengqin Customs House a consignment of export goods. When inspecting the export products, Customs officers found 10,983 shopping bags, hand bags and purses which were all carrying the mark of “POLO”. These items, which were declared with no presentation of legitimate authorization documents, were confirmed by the right holder as infringing products.
