NEW DELHI: Honda will introduce new-gen Jazz in India with various features. The Japanese automaker wants to leave no stone unturned to make it successful this time, since it failed to live up to the company’s expectation in its first innings.

After some production delays, now, it seems that the company is all set to launch the new-gen Jazz premium hatchback in a month or two. The teaser video reveals that the final model of the hatchback has received some changes, compared to its pre-production version showcased at 2014 Delhi Auto Expo.

The new Jazz will be available in petrol (1.2-litre-VTEC) and diesel (1.5-litre i-DTECH) engine options. The 1.2-litre-VTEC petrol unit, that also powers the Brio and Amaze, churns out a maximum power of 87bhp with 109Nm of torque. The 1.5-litre i-DTECH diesel powertrain, on the other hand, is borrowed from the City, producing 99bhp with 200Nm. A 5-speed manual transmission will be offered with regular models, while the performance-oriented version (1.5-litre i-VTEC) might get a 5-speed CVT gearbox.

The video teaser indicates that the Indian-spec model of the Jazz will feature a chrome grille, body-coloured door handles, electrically adjustable ORVM with turn indicators, new 5×2 spoke alloys and roof spoiler with stop light. On the inside, the car will get steering mounted controls, multimedia navigation system, leather wrapped steering wheel and gear lever and keyless entry.

Expected to be priced between Rs. 5.5 lakh – Rs. 8 lakh, the new-generation Honda Jazz will rival against the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Volkswagen Polo and Hyundai Elite i20.
