NEW YORK: The first Italian woman in space is also the first person to sip brewed coffee in space. Samantha Cristoforetti of the European Space Agency or European Space Agency sipped the first brewed coffee in space with the use of a microgravity cups.
The use of the microgravity cups is part of the fluid physics study that the astronauts are working in at the International Space Station.
There are now six astronauts inside the International Space Station working on science experiments and studies. Cristoforetti has been keeping journals and videos to document her daily activities and experiments, including her sipping the coffee. The astronauts are also working on a future science promotion that might include children. The coffee experiment was also a way for the scientists to determine how hot fluids will interact with the high pressure-low gravity environment.
