LONDON: WhatsApp new version Material Design can be downloaded directly from the Google Play Store, which means that you won’t need to download the APK file manually and to enable the Unknown Sources option etc.
Until now, the new Material Design was available only on WhatsApp BETA versions, which were available for download from the official WhatsApp website. It seems that the developers have ended the beta tests and they’ve decided to release a stable version of WhatsApp. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to save conversations yet on Google Drive. It is good to know that this feature disappeared from the BETA versions also, which makes us think that this was just a test that the developers have made and that it will take a while until it will be finally implemented to the application.
It is good to know that the update will roll-out gradually and it will not be available immediately for everyone. However, sooner or later, everyone will be able to update their WhatsApp version to 2.12.74.
In case you don’t want to wait, you can always download the WhatsApp 2.12.74 APK file from the APKMirror website. After downloading the file on your Android device, make sure that you backup your WhatsApp conversation and uninstall the current WhatsApp application. Now, make sure that the Unknown Sources option is enabled by going to Settings->Applications or Settings->Security and making sure that the box in front of it is checked. This option needs to be enabled or else you will not be able to install APK files that have been downloaded from other sources than the Google Play Store.
Once you’re sure that the Unknown Sources is enabled, head to the place where you’ve saved the WhatsApp 2.12.74 APK file and install it on your device. When the installation is completed, use your mobile phone number, get verified and start using this new version on your device.
