Malaysia ranks 1 position in developing countries in corporate goverance

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia ranks top among developing countries in terms of corporate governance requirement, a joint study by ACCA and KPMG shows.

“Out of 15 developing countries that participated in the survey, Malaysia achieved joint first place with India,” KPMG Malaysia head of risk consulting Lee Min On said.

“In Asia Pacific, Malaysia tied worth Australia, behind Singapore. In Asean, Malaysia ranked second place behind Singapore and ahead of eight other Asean countries in a new study on corporate governance requirements across 25 markets,” he added.

Lee revealed details of the findings of the joint study by ACCA and KPMG entitled, “Balancing Rules and Regulations”.

The study was released at a conference entitled “Corporate Governance: Balancing Rules and Practices” here co-organised by the Securities Commission and Bursa Malaysia Bhd.
