NEW YORK: There is news that HTC will be rolling out the Android 5.1 Lollipop for the One M8. Google Play edition of HTC One M8 to receive Android 5.1 update first.
Users of the Google Play Edition of the HTC One M8 will be the first to get the latest Android 5.1 Lollipop update and those using the HTC One M8 model in other countries that include UK will get the update in August. This update will not just affect the users of the HTC One M8, but also those on the older HTC One M7 and the newer HTC One M9.
So, if you are using an Android HTC One M8, make sure you are vigilant as the update may be availed any time soon, but only for those living in the U.S. In this update, the users of the HTC One M8 will not only get the new Android 5.1 website, but they will also get the latest Sense 7 alongside the Lollipop update.
Just like with other updates in the past, there is an option of waiting for the OTA update that will be availed through your One M8 carrier, or simply get a manual update. There is also an option of downloading the ROM from the official HTC website for your respective countries and personally flash the One M8.
HTC One M8 Lollipop update for U.S. carriers
Those using the HTC One M8 from T-Mobile begun getting the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop from February and as such, most devices should already be using this OS. You can check for the updates via “Settings>About Phone>Software update”.
If you check the official support page for Sprint, you’ll notice that the current version of mobile OS used for the HTC One M8 is Android 5.0 Lollipop. This means that all devices from Sprint are able to get this update. If you haven’t, check via the same process as above for available updates. Verizon followed Sprint closely with an Android Lollipop update to their One M8 devices early in March and later on in April; AT&T joined the bandwagon by pushing a better and updated version of the OS, Android 5.0.2 to their One M8 models.
