LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has handed over an accused to customs authorities in a money-laundering case for further investigation.
According to sources, Shaukat Ali, son of Nawab, was arrested by the Sialkot Customs officials at the Sialkot International Airport as he attempted to smuggle $10,000 to a Gulf state. The customs team arrested and presented him in the court of Nazeer Ahmad Gajana, and asked for the physical remand of the accused for three days.
The Customs Court accepted the plea and granted a two-day remand of the accused, telling the Customs Intelligence and Investigation team to present him in the court on Monday. The court also directed the team to avoid torturing the accused.
