BRUSSELS: The European Commission has recommended that Union member countries participate on an obligatory basis in receiving refugees.

As Sławek Szefs reports, some Union members, including Poland, would prefer the principle of voluntary admittance. Experts say that Poland is technically prepared to accept the migrants but the readiness of Polish society for the move remains an entirely different problem. “Poland still has much to accomplish in this sphere,” Rafał Baczyński-Sielaczek from the Institute for Public Affairs told Polish Radio.
