NEW DELHI: Maruti Suzuki, the largest car maker in India, is getting all decked up for taking the experience of customers to a whole new level. The automobile manufacturer is getting ready for the launch of Celerio diesel in India. This hatchback has been a great success in the domestic market and a diesel variant on cards is further expected to help it deepen its roots in the Indian automotive market. The automobile giant had been spotted conducting testing on the new model for quite some time. The new spy shots from Manesar have revealed most details about the car.

The DDiS badge on the new Celerio has indicated that the model will be housing a brand new 793 cc, dual-cylinder diesel engine. It is expected that the engine will muster 52 to 58 bhp power with a maximum torque of 150 Nm. Maruti Celerio petrol with automatic transmission was a grand success, so it is expected that the diesel model will also be provided with the same. The car is expected to top its class in the mileage aspect with an expected figure of 30 kilometres per litre.

The interior specifications as well as the looks are expected to stay identical as the current variant. Just like its petrol sibling, the diesel model will also be offered in a number of variants like ZDi, VDi and LDi. The top variant will be provided with features like alloy wheels, ABS, music system with steering mounted controls and dual front airbags.

Given the class-leading aspects of the car, Celerio diesel variant will be priced quite competitively by Maruti. Also, the car manufacturer will make sure that the budget conscious Indian customers are taken care of. It is likely that the car will be priced between Rs 4.8 lakhs and 5.8 lakhs. Maruti Celerio will compete against the likes of Hyundai Grand i10 as well as Chevrolet Beat diesel. Maruti Celerio is among the most affordable cars in the nation after Alto k10. Probably this is the main reason why these cars have hit the roads in large numbers.
