Customs Court grants bail to suspect in mobile smuggling case

LAHORE: Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-smuggling has approved the bail of an accused in mobile smuggling case against the guarantee of Rs 500,000.

Accused Rana Muhammad Rafi was arrested by the Customs at Allama Iqbal International Airport while he was trying to smuggle a number of mobile phones from Thailand.

Customs officials during search of his luggage and found those mobiles in his bag which were not hidden in very technical way in his bag. Customs airport officials arrested him and presented him to the court of Mr Nazeer Ahmad Gajana and got two days physical remand. The court after the completion of investigation sent him to jail where accused applied for the bail. During the hearing on the other day, the Customs Court accepted his bail plea against the cash guarantee of Rs 500,000.

Customs Court allowed the accused to go after paying the amount of cash in the court.
