SEOUL: South Korean stocks traded 0.42 percent higher late Tuesday morning, buoyed by solid gains in some key technology shares, analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) added 8.81 points to 2,122.53 as of 11:20 a.m.
Techs led the gain. Market bellwether Samsung Electronics rose 2.42 percent and chip giant SK hynix added 1.1 percent.
Autos underperformed, with top automaker Hyundai Motor and its affiliate Kia Motors falling 0.62 percent and 0.83 percent, respectively.
The local currency was trading at 1,092.65 won against the greenback as of 11:20 a.m., down 7.05 won from Monday’s close.
