Govt to allocate Rs250b for CPEC in upcoming budget

LAHORE: Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahrsan Iqbal has said that the government will allocate Rs250 billion for fast track implementation of China Pakistan Economic Corridor in the upcoming budget.

Addressing a PML-N Workers Convention after inaugurating a road in Qasim Pura area of Shakargarh, he said the commitment by China for an investment of $46 billion in Pakistan is a big success of the government. He said the CPEC is a plan for the development and prosperity of the two countries.

He said the image of Pakistan across the world has improved under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif but there are certain elements who do not want to see development in Pakistan. He categorically assured that the areas in Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa and Balochistan would certainly get development under the Prime Minister and the nefarious designs of the enemies would be foiled.

Ahsan Iqbal said that the Chinese investment is in line with the existing energy policy of the government. He emphasised the need for avoiding past mistakes which did not bring necessary investment in our country.
