KINGSTON: A team of officers from the Narcotics Division seized a quantity of ganja during routine checks at the Kingston Wharves here the other day.
Reports are that about 4:30 p.m., law enforcement personnel were conducting security checks when they observed a broken seal on a container.
The police were summoned and on their arrival, nine duffel bags containing approximately 711 pounds of ganja were seized.
A release from the Jamaica Customs Agency Tuesday said the duffel bags contained 188 packages.
The illicit drug has an estimated street value of J$3.5 million. ;
No one was arrested in connection with the seizure.
The police say investigations are ongoing.
