TOKYO: Tokyo shares ended higher on Friday with the benchmark Nikkei index logging a sixth straight day of gaining on the Bank of Japan’s decision to maintain its ultra- loose monetary policy.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 61.54 points, or 0.30 percent, from Thursday at 20,264.41.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 1.05 points, or 0.06 percent, at 1,647. 85.
Gainers were led by mining, rubber products and metal products.
The turnover was about 2,418.2 billion yen (about 20.02 billion U.S. dollars).
