AFU duty collection up by 45% to Rs 5.59 billion in 10 months

LAHORE: The Customs Air Freight Unit (AFU) collected 45 percent more customs duty during the first 10 months (July-April) of the current fiscal year 2014-15 on the import of various goods than the collection of last year 2013-14 in the corresponding period.

Official data revealed that the AFU generated Rs 5.594 billion as customs duty with surplus of Rs 1.723 billion as it had collected Rs 3.871 billion from July to April of last year.

The AFU has not only beaten the target of Rs 5.203 billion set for the current fiscal year but also exceed it by 8 percent, which is 391 million, official data showed.
