NEW DELHI: Asus has announced that ZenFone 4, ZenFone 5, and ZenFone 6 smartphones users won’t receive Android 5.0 Lollipop on scheduled date.

As confirmed by Asus on its official ZenTalk forum, the delay in releasing the update has been caused by issues in the verification process. Prior to the referred issues, the company had plans to roll out Lollipop in second or third week of May.

“Asus was scheduled to provide ZenFone 4, ZenFone 5, ZenFone 6, and PadFone S with Android L upgrade in the mid of May. However, Asus team has found some issues during verification. We decided to delay the Android L upgrade schedule in order to provide better user experience. We are currently working on the related issues and will release the upgrade as soon as possible,” reads an official post in ZenTalk forum.

The Taiwanese firm has postponed update for the new Padfone Infinity A86 as well. The chief cause behind this decision was reportedly limitation of the processor of the said device. Asus has ensured its customers that it will roll out software upgrade based on Android 4.4 KitKat for Padfone.

Asus has not been able to circulate the Lollipop to most of its devices. To be exact, it has only allotted the advanced version of Android OS to the LTE-variant of the ZenFone 5. Indeed, Asus’s progress in this regard is very slow as compared to other competitors like Sony, whose entire Xperia Z lineup has recieved the Lollipop along with other models. HTC is also doing pretty well to enable its customers getting rid of outdated KitKat and enjoy the advanced Lollipop.
