LAHORE: Ambassador of Qatar Saqr Bin Mubarak Al-Mansouri has said that Pakistani businessmen should initiate joint ventures with Qatari counterparts as abundant investment and business opportunities are available in various sectors, including infrastructure, tourism, pharmaceutical and healthcare.
While talking to LCCI Vice President Syed Mahmood Ghaznavi, the ambassador of Qatar said that his country was in dire need of skilled manpower, and that Pakistan could earn huge foreign exchange through exporting skilled manpower to Qatar.
“Qatar also needs Pakistan’s help in education, health and engineering sectors.” He stressed the need to develop a screening mechanism.
LCCI Vice President Syed Mahmood Ghaznavi said that despite the fact that Pakistan and Qatar were members of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and had close and cooperative relations, these prolonged ties did not reflect in bilateral economic relations.
Ghaznavi said that the Lahore chamber was ready to play an effective role to promote trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. He said Pakistani construction companies if provided proper information could assist Qatar, as it was a potential market. Likewise, Qatar can benefit from cheap and abundant labour available in Pakistan for this purpose.
He said that the LCCI can play a constructive role in bridging the gap of information and interaction between the businessmen of the two countries.
