Appraisement-West to achieve revenue targets by end of current FY 2014-15: ADC Nayyar Shafique

KARACHI: The Additional Collector-ADC Nayyar Shafique has claimed that the Model Customs Collectorate-MCC Appraisement -West will achieve revenue targets by the end of this month as well as by the end of fiscal year-2014-15 in all heads including custom duty, sales tax, income tax and federal excise duty.

Talking to Customs Today at his office, Additional Collector-ADC Nayyar Shafique said that although it was a tough task to achieve the revenue target in share of custom duty, the authorities concerned of the Collectorate under the supervision of Collector-Muhammad Saleem are endeavoring their best to attain the revenue targets by the end of current fiscal year2014-15.

Replying to a query, the Additional Collector said that the strict surveillance and vigilance by the authorities concerned of the Collectorates have barred the unscrupulous elements to import dubious clearance by using Green channel.

“The unscrupulous elements have been switched out their dubious clearance from the Collectorate of MCC-Appraisement-West and now the authorities concerned of the Collectorate are determined to recover back its legitimate duty/taxes”, he added.

The additional collector said on one hand, the Collectorate was facing low import trend by detecting unscrupulous elements while on the other hand, the genuine and authentic importers are turned out to make MCC-Appraisement -West, their ultimate Collectorate for clearance of their huge consignments.

Responding to another query, Additional Collector Nayyar Shafique said that the authorities concerned of the Collectorate in the recent meetings have also decided to bring different commodities into the ambit of Customs Valuation Ruling which are still not into the net of applied Customs values.

Answering a question, the Additional Collector said that the authorities concerned of the Collectorate are making list of those items which are still enjoying immunity of applying Customs Valuation Ruling adding that the authorities concerned after scrutinizing the entire data would prepare a list of those items and presents it before the Collector-MCC Appraisement-West Muhammad Saleem for final proceedings.

Additional Collector-ADC Nayyar Shafique was also of the view that the Collectorate is doing its best in order to highlight the revenue recoveries, recovered those and pleading the cases in the different forums of legal proceedings despite shortage of staff.
