MISSISSAUGA — Peel Regional Police are on the lookout for a GTA drug trafficker after more than 12 kilograms of cocaine was seized at Pearson International Airport.
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced the seizure today, saying CBSA officers were monitoring the offload of luggage from an aircraft originating from the Dominican Republic Thursday. Customs officers noticed a black suitcase with a seemingly recycled bag tag. After opening the luggage and examining the contents, officers found ten brick-shaped bundles wrapped in clothing. All the bundles were subsequently tested and found to contain suspected cocaine.
The suspected cocaine was turned over to Peel Regional Police.
“A sound enforcement posture allows us to continue detecting illicit contraband and keeping our communities safe,” said Goran Vragovic, CBSA Regional Director General, Greater Toronto Area Region
In 2014, the CBSA in the Greater Toronto Area made 180 cocaine seizures totaling over 954 kg.
