Faisalabad Adjudication declares seizure of ceramic tiles rightful

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Faisalabad declares the confiscation of Iranian ceramic tiles by Faisalabad Customs, lawful, besides giving opportunity to the accused owner for getting release of subject items after paying the redemption fine.

As per details, intelligence team had raided a godown near Sargodha after getting a search warrant under Section 162 of Customs Act, 1969. During research, the team recovered Iranian origin ceramic tiles of various brands including EEFA Brand, Fakhar Refsanjan Brand, SANAZ Brand, Digital Brilliant Rafsanjani Brand and others.

Later, the accused showed willingness to pay duty/taxes over the seized items on which the judge said that “taking a lenient view, an option is given to the lawful owner of the ceramic tiles under Section 181 of the Customs Act, 1969 read with notification that he can get items on payment of duty and taxes leviable on the tiles plus a redemption fine of 20 percent of the customs value to be appraised by the Faisalabad Collectorate.
