Oppo’s R7 Plus includes fingerprint-scanning technology powered by Precise Biometrics algorithms

BEJING: Oppo’s new R7 Plus smartphone has included fingerprint-scanning technology powered by Precise Biometrics algorithms. More specifically, the mobile device is relying on Precise Biometrics’ Precise BioMatch Mobile system.

That’s delivered by way of Fingerprint Cards’ (FPC) hardware, of course; the FPC1025 sensor has been integrated into the new Oppo mobile device, making Oppo a repeat customer of both FPC and Precise Biometrics. In a statement, Precise Biometrics CEO Håkan Persson expressed his company’s excitement over the integration, and added that it “also demonstrates a positive market development for fingerprint sensors in mobile devices.”

That may be especially true in the case of China- and Asia-based OEMs, who have been providing FPC and, by extension, Precise Biometrics, with a lot of business lately. That pushed FPC to bump up its revenue projections for the year, and is also welcome news for Precise Biometrics, given the company’s reliance on licensing agreements as it moves forward from Q1 losses. In a statement, Precise Biometrics indicated that the licensing revenues from this new integration will affect Q2 fiscal results, but asserted that it’s too soon to forecast the extent.
