Lawyer’s boycott of courts continues on third day of Daska tragedy

LAHORE: Lawyers across the country observed strike on Thursday and took out rallies to condemn the killing of two lawyers by police in Daska on Monday.

Lawyers staged a  sit-in in front of the Lahore High Court and chanted slogans against police and demands for justice.

At the Lahore Customs Court and other  Courts of the country, lawyers boycotted the proceedings on the appeal of Pakistan Bar Council (PBC). Pakistan Bar Council has announced three days boycott of the courts countrywide and to protest against the incident. Meanwhile on Thursday no police official was present in the court and rangers took the responsibility of security.

Lawyers also observed strike in big cities of the country specially in Punjab, where black flags were hoisted outside the bar rooms and resolutions condemning the police act were also passed by the associations of various bar councils.

The legal fraternity has demanded that the government should bring the killers to justice

Policemen deployed at Courts have been directed to wear plain clothes, while cops present at entry and exit points of the session’s court have been asked to return to Police Lines.

Lawyers also protested in Jhang, Sargodha, Khushab, Toba Tek Singh, Gujrat, and Jhelum, Narowal, Shakargarh and other cities of Punjab.
