Sony Xperia Z1 users can check out for Android 5.0 Lollipop OS update on T-Mobile: FTF link

TOKYO: Sony Xperia Z1 users can check out for the Android 5.0 (Lollipop) OS update on T-Mobile: FTF link that is now active for their smartphones.

According to an Xperia blog post, the latest Android 5.0 OS update bears build number 14.5.B.0.236. Xperia Z1 (bearing model number C6916) users would need to remember that the firmware of the latest update is Android 5.0.2 which has begun a phased rollout. This means, it may take time until all T-Mobile-driven Sony Xperia Z1 smartphones across the US are covered.

Android 5.0.2 will arrive automatically via over-the-air (OTA) mechanism, but you can also check for the update manually on your smartphones.

Currently, Sony Xperia Z1 on T-Mobile is driven by the legacy Android 4.2.2 (KitKat) operating platform.

What’s new with Lollipop?

Android Lollipop, for T-Mobile-driven Sony Xperia Z1 brings along the following newer functionality:

Material Design: A colourful and responsive UI design for consistent, intuitive experiences across devices.

Notifications: View and respond to messages directly from your lock screen. Includes the ability to hide sensitive content for these notifications.

Battery Saver feature: The new feature extends the device’s battery life by up to 90 minutes.

Enhanced security: Android Smart Lock can secure your phone or tablet by pairing it with a trusted device like your wearable or your car.

Device Sharing: Multiple users for phones.

New Quick Settings: Enables users to get to the most frequently used settings with just two swipes at the top of the screen.

Connectivity: Improved network handoffs resulting in limited interruption in connectivity.

Android TV: Support for television.

OK Google: Talk to Google on the go to get quick answers, send a text, and get directions and more.
