Punjab Revenue Board to launch e-stamp paper from June 8

LAHORE: The Punjab Board of Revenue has decided to introduce e-stamp paper which will not only save millions of rupees, but will also facilitate the citizens online.

Now after a long time working on specific sort of stamp papers it will be available in market from June 8, 2015 in the whole Punjab. It was announced by senior Board member of Revenue Nadeem Ashraf during a meeting at PRA office.

Giving details about  e-stamp paper Nadeem Ashraf said a buyer of the e-stamp paper will be informed through SMS on his mobile which will make it more secure for the customer.

This step will be supportive to control the bogus stamp papers. Through this process, the citizens will feed data online and system will provide them a specific code.

He said credit cards will be accepted for the paper payment and specific bank challan will be issued after the completion of data feeding by the user.

Data of both the buyer and seller will be available in the paper.

It is to be mention here that Indian state Karnataka introduce e-stamp paper in 2006. It was a successful experience that helped the state in controlling fake stamp papers and deal with the mafias.

Stamp papers are being used for different purposes in Pakistan especially for purchase and sale of land.  After its launch, sale and purchase of land will be easy and activities of land mafia will be curbed. The Punjab government has already computerized its land record.
